The Mummy Tag

I was tagged in this Mummy post by the lovely new Mummy - Siobhan over at
I haven’t done a Mummy related post before so here goes!

I am a Mummy to 2 boys – Jensen James 5, James Lee 3 and have another boy (yes another boy) on the way; due in 8 weeks’ time “holds hand to head and faints”

Are you a stay at home mum or a working mum?
I‘m a working Mum and currently work fulltime for a National Law Firm looking after the Marketing & PR for them plus ten sub legal brands across the UK. Somehow – not sure how at times, I manage to juggle all this plus looking after my boys, being a wife, blogger, friend and shopaholic!

Would you have it any other way?
No! I believe that women should have the choice of a career without sacrificing having children.  I admire women who champion this and get that balance right. My mum always worked and held jobs in senior positions which gave me the confidence to do the same. None of this would be possible without the support of my Partner James; he encourages me to follow my career ambition and supports my choices.

    Do you co-sleep?
No! My boys are now in their own rooms, however that took some time. My eldest Jensen has ADHD which basically means I’ve never had night’s sleep since he was born, he runs on fresh air and sleep is not a hobby of his.  For the first 2 years he was in and out of our bed during the night, wide awake for hours on end for no apparent reason.
Luckily my youngest James was totally different and liked to sleep on a night - yey. As for the new baby, well let’s just wait and see eh??

What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Probably the sleeping tog, it gives you piece of mind that the baby hasn’t kicked the covers off during the night etc so you know they are warm and cosy in their crib.

How many kids do you plan on having?
I have always wanted a big family, I didn’t anticipate on having them quite so close together but these things happen.  The big question I’m asked on a daily basis is “Will you try again for a girl?” Honestly I don’t know, if I do it won’t be for a good few years but a little girl would be the icing on the cake for me J.

Date night? How many nights per month?
Ahhh date night - my favourite time of the month!  This varies really some months we won’t get the chance and other months we fall lucky with childcare and have a few.  Either way we use the time wisely and go for a lovely meal and a few cocktails and just generally date. The best part is being able to eat in peace lol! Sometimes the Hubby will secretly arrange a babysitter for the kids and text me to say “get dolled up honey, I’m taking you on a date” I literally jump on the spot regardless of where I am!  I just appreciate that time alone with the Mr now that we have children.

      Your child’s favourite show?
Jensen has recently changed his choice of show; he has gone from cartoons to the world of I-Carly and other American style kids tv shows.  It’s made me realise how grown up he is getting. James on the other hand is Iggle Piggle and Pepper Pig mad! Each morning he wakes up and the first thing he says is  “Put Pepper Pig and George on” Then sings the theme tune down the stairs.

Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
I got one of them cameras for the nursery with the telly that goes in our room but to be honest I never used it as he was in and out like a yoyo.

     Your child’s favourite food?
If you ask Jensen what he wants for tea it’s always “Sausage and Mash” everywhere we go he wants it too.  James is a fussy eater and doesn’t really have a favourite food it all depends on his mood for the day.  He is currently going through a bagel with jam phase.

How many cars does your family have?
We have two cars – which makes life so much easier.

Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?
I gained about a stone and half with my first child, my body was different then, I was younger and didn’t have to worry about weight and could eat what I liked when I liked, then once I had him my body changed and never went back to how it was.  I gained hips for the first time in my life and a more womanly figure. I hired a personal trainer and trained hard after my first child trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and figure.  I was at my fittest, more toned and defined than I had ever been but still not back to my old self, then I realised I was never going to get back to that as having a child moves things that never go back. I was happy with my body and more confident that before I had the baby, when I fell pregnant with my second.  I didn’t weigh myself this time as I knew enjoying pregnancy and listening to your body is the best way to be. I aimed to get back into shape after baby number 2 but the demand of having a second child was completely different to having one, which meant my PT sessions had to go.  This time round I have gained about 2 stone already and the rest is yet to come, I’m not fussed about it to be honest. My baby is healthy; I feel well and let’s face it running round after 3 kids is sure to shift them pounds – (she says)

      Dream holiday with your kids?
We are currently looking at Disney Land Paris for this Christmas, flying out on Xmas Eve for 4 days. I’m conscious we will have an extra child this time but the Hubby is hell bent on going for it! I’m not complaining mind – I think it will be magical for them.  I have been to Disney a few times for xmas but not with the kids (this was before I had them) and just know they will love it.

      Dream holiday without your kids?
Wow that would be a dream ha! It would be to Bora Bora just me the hubby with a Villa in the sea, sipping cocktails and just relaxing in style.

How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
My life has been turned on its head! My priority is no longer getting my make up on and out the door; it’s about the kids and their needs.  I didn’t realise the demand having a baby would bring nor did I understand the sacrifices I would have to make.  I look back now and realise I’m a very different person with responsibilities that come first at all times.  It’s changed me for the better and made me appreciate life more.  I wouldn’t have it any other way now they are here – they have made me who I am.

Finish the sentence “ it makes my heart melt to see….” My boys give each other a kiss and a hug goodnight! Or if I’m not in the room and I hear James say “I love you my Jensen” I just want to run in and scoop them up.

Where do you shop for your kids?
Both my kids have very different styles so shopping varies.  Jensen lives in Joggers, t-shirts and converse, he refuses to wear Jeans or anything that resembles “smart”. If we are going anywhere nice I have to literally beg him to wear something appropriate – he says “I’m putting my bottoms on as soon as I’m home” lol

James on the other hand is very stylish; his signature look is a tweed blazer, shirt and Chelsea boots.  He often carries an accessory with him too.
I shop at Next; they do lots of casual wear for Jensen and some smart items for James.  Zara is great for the smarter look.  I am a fan of designer wear but save it for special occasions and holidays.

Jensen's first day at school

Favourite makeup and skin care products?
Where do I start??  For make-up I currently love the Burberry Velvet Foundation and the Illamasqua blushers.  For Skincare has to be my Dermalogica overnight multivitamin mask I couldn’t live without it!

Huggies or pampers? Easy Pampers, I don’t think you can mess with quality when it comes to nappies.  As for the Huggies wipes I hate them, I go to get one out of the pack and 13 come out all stuck together – sorry rant over!

      Have you always wanted kids?
Yeah it’s always been on the cards.

Best part about being a mum?
For me it’s the little things, like hearing one of them sing a full song unaware I’m listening or when they randomly just say Love you Mummy all the world and back again.  I’m so proud of them and the strong characters they have become.  I try to make every day an adventure and create memories they will never forget.

  1. I love the dress! It is very true that it is huge at the bust, and that is saying something as I am a D cup. Though it will need alterations to adjust for my body dimensions
